Silence as a Resource

This morning, I read an article about how Finland has been branded as a place that provides the natural resource of silence. The tourism tagline is, “silence, please.”

Interestingly, silence (which can be especially hard to come by in a city) is something that benefits our brains, and interestingly it’s not because the brain is void of stimuli but rather it is a different type of stimulus. Meaning that the brain reacts to the lack of information coming in rather than silence being an inactive brain state.
